Music instruction offered for all band students, beginners through advanced levels.
INSTRUCTION OFFERINGS ARE BASED ON YOUR GRADE IN SCHOOL
FALL 2010
BEGINNERS: 5th grade (or 6th graders who have not yet started). Two 40 minute class sessions per week. SELECTION OF BEGINNER’S INSTRUMENT: success and participation in instrumental groups throughout your school career depend on choosing an instrument that has appeal for you AND THE PROJECTED NEED FOR THAT PARTICULAR INSTRUMENT. For help in making your decision, contact your area band instructor. Instruments are available on a trial basis from local music stores; instruction books may also be obtained at the local stores and should be brought to your first class.
INTERMEDIATE: 6th-9th grade. Two 40 minute class sessions per week.
ADVANCED: 10th-12th grade. Individualized instruction for the student who wishes to excel. One 30 minute lesson per week; includes All-State preparation.
JAZZ BAND: For students 7th grade and up who are enrolled in regular class lessons. Class will be Monday and Wednesday from 11:40-12:20. There is no fee for jazz band above the regular lesson fee. Instruments eligible to participate in Jazz Band include saxophones, trumpets, trombones, percussion, piano, string or electric bass, and electric guitar.
